Athletes Foot / Tinea Ailment The most common form of tinea is 'Tinea pedis' commonly known as athlete's foot. This attacks the warm, moist areas between the toes and the side and soles of the feet, and is highly infectious. Additional Information Tea tree oil has been successfully applied to a number of fungal infections and is particularly good for relieving the symptoms of tinea. In 1972 Morton Walker carried out a thorough study on the use of tea tree oil for several foot problems, including tinea. Of the sixty patients involved in the study, fifty eight suffering patients successfully relieved or eliminated their symptoms. Walker concluded, "Various dilutions of Australian Melaleuca alternifolia oil eradicates or improves the symptoms of Tinea pedis with continuous daily use." Although tea tree oil seems to work just as well when diluted, Thursday Plantation recommends to wash and dry the affected area thoroughly, then apply either Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Anti-fungal Gel or Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Oil 100% Pure twice a day. If no improvement occurs within seven days medical advice should be sought.
